North Carolina Bike Trails

The state has a comprehensive pedestrian and biking plan, and many bike routes have been mapped out. Much of the biking in North Carolina is mountain biking including the Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge. There also are a number of - and growing - Greenway trail systems for biking. We've visited several areas in the state, plus the Smokies. See links below for more details:

Asheville

Two paved trails:
- French Broad River Greenway (4 miles)
-Wilma Dykeman Greenway (2.2 miles)

Boone Greenway

5 miles along and crossing the South Fork of the New River.

Brevard Bike Path (Estatoe Trail)

Paved and unpaved sections, 6 miles

Cape Fear River Trail

5.5 miles along the Fear River at Fayetteville

Great Smoky Mountains
(also TN)

Recreational biking and hiking in the Smokies

Lenoir Greenway

Including wooded areas paralleling Zacks Fork Creek, 9 miles

Yadkin River Greenway

8.1 mile paved trail in 7 sections
