New York State is very diverse: "Downstate" is identified with
New York City and its suburbs; "Upstate" is very scenic with
mountains and rivers to explore. An exciting initiative is the
Empire State Trail connecting existing trails and
new, a continuous 750-mile route from New York City to Albany, and
from Albany to Buffalo and to Canada.
