Holmes County Trail
Latest update: Jan. 2017
Part of the 326-mile Ohio to Erie Trail, this is the only trail designed to accommodate Amish buggies, having a separate buggy lane. 15 miles are completed between Fredericksburg and Killbuck, OH. We were based at Millersburg at approximately the midpoint of the trail. Half the population of Holmes County is Amish (one of the largest Amish communities in the world) which led to some interesting sights. Very pretty countryside and towns, and good food, too. At the western end of the trail, a 7.5 mile extension has been completed from Glenmont to Gann (Brinkhaven), connecting to the Mohican Valley Trail. Connecting Glenmont to Killbuck is a future project. (Detailed map and photos below.)
Location: Killbuck to Fredericksburg, Holmes County, OH (See map)

Based at Millersburg (the approximate midpoint), we visited the Killbuck to Fredericksburg section of the trail.
Picnic table and benches at the Killbuck trailhead, no other facilities.
Hipp Station is the Millersburg trailhead, the restored train depot serves as the trail's headquarters. Scenic section, several bridges over wetlands.
At Holmesville, there a short gap where you ride on local streets. Leaving Holmesville it's pleasant ride past fields and streams to Fredericksburg.
